Local Artist Lori Biwer-Stewart offers printmaking sessions in Art with You ’22 programs
The Charles City Public Library and Charles City Arts Center are pleased to announce a series of free programs for kids, teens, and adults entitled Art with You ‘22. Local artist Lori Biwer-Stewart will be instructing two printmaking sessions for teens and adults. The teen session starts May 18 and 19 at 6:30 PM and concludes on May 21 at 9 AM. The adult sessions start on September 21 and 22 at 6:30 PM and conclude September 24 at 9 AM. The first class of every session meets at the library where students will meet with Biwer-Stewart and learn about the class. The subsequent classes are held at the Arts Center where instruction continues, and students create their masterpieces. Students should be prepared to bring a plain t-shirt of their choosing to the last class session to print.
Biwer-Stewart grew up on a beef cattle farm in North Central Iowa. She currently resides and has her own studio in Osage. Her formal training is in design; however, after dabbling in a variety of different mediums, she gave printmaking a try and found it suited her. Many of her pieces encourage interpretation and have symbolic images that tell a story. She favors birds in many of her designs and likes experimenting with colors and layering different types of printmaking techniques to new textures. Examples of her work can be viewed on her website loribiwerstewart.etsy.com.
Floyd County Community Foundation is the fiscal sponsor behind Art with You ‘22 programs. The community foundation gives local non-profit organizations grants of funding to create a more vibrant place for all people to thrive. The Charles City Public Library received the grant and hopes that each art session will further its mission to bring people, ideas, and information together to enrich the community.
Registration for sessions is required; please contact the library at 641-257-6319, register at https://forms.gle/txHftn6tTj7iuvHu5, or email the director at ccdirector34@gmail.com to save your spot for these very special opportunities.
